Harnessing Technology: EO4EU’s Strategic Use of the ADAM Platform
The Advanced Geospatial Data Management (ADAM) platform implemented by MEEO plays a significant role in facilitating access to geospatial data, particularly Earth Observation (EO) data, by offering a centralized and user-friendly interface for accessing a wide array of environmental datasets. It integrates various types of data, including both global and local data, historical records, real-time updates, and predictive models, enabling users to process and analyze this information efficiently. Through its user-friendly web viewer and API, ADAM supports diverse applications across fields enhancing data accessibility and usability for researchers, policymakers, and businesses.
The EO4EU project leverages the capabilities of the ADAM platform to enhance its mission of making EO data more accessible and usable across Europe. Among the specific benefits offered by ADAM there is the integration with major EO data providers as well as the interoperability and standardization. In the first case ADAM integrates seamlessly with various EO data providers, aggregating data from multiple sources into a single platform. This integration ensures that users have access to a wide range of data, including satellite imagery and other geospatial information, without the need to navigate multiple databases.
Moreover, ADAM supports interoperability with other data systems and follows standard protocols, facilitating data exchange and integration across different platforms and applications. This ensures that data can be used effectively in various contexts and combined with other datasets for comprehensive analysis.
Within EO4EU ADAM plays the role of a multi-source data provider collecting various datasets needed by the project consortium and exposing them through the APIs interface connected with the other components of the system.
One of the major benefits of the integration of ADAM in EO4EU is the compatibility and complementary role with the Knowledge Graph component implemented by Novelcore that can perform a semantic and simplified search of datasets exploiting the ADAM API functions of data search, metadata search and data access for the downloading of the data selected by the user. The deep interconnection of these two components is providing a unique, simplified and seamless user experience of EO data exploitation.
With EO4EU project, ADAM is continuing the population of its database and data lake by extending the existing datasets in time and space and by adding new datasets requested by the consortium partners that are implementing the different project use cases.
